Developing a table lamp shade range that will remain timeless

When I started Cowshed Interiors, I never envisaged that I would find myself in the position we are now. We started, like many other retailers, buying shades ‘off the shelf’ from our existing suppliers but now……
We have been, and are continuing to develop our own beautiful bespoke products with suppliers, enabling us to have our own design input and, as in the case of the lamp shades, to create our very own range. Being able to order them directly means that we can offer lampshades that are strong,  perfectly proportioned for modern living, on trend and ultimately, affordable.
We pride ourselves in that we always strive to offer something that is a little different from the items that so often flood the market and this will enable you to create  something special for your decor. Certainly not mainstream.
We have partnered with some like minded business producers and together we have created our bespoke Cowshed Interiors range.
Our first delivery of over 1000 lamp shades sold very quickly so we knew they were great quality and selling them so quickly enabled us to tweak our next delivery to offer more sizes and the addition of a new shape and a new fabric.
We are now able to offer our core shades range with the benefits of different price points, and design leanings.

We have two main differences in fabric choices; a textured fabric (which is available in three shapes called Oberon, Ariel and Cassio) which offer rich weaves giving the lamp a more luxurious country feel, and our softer smoother fabric for a smarter, elegant look. (Also available in three shapes - We call Julius Celia and Lago)

Our fabrics are carefully dyed to our specification and each delivery is proof checked and matched to earlier samples so that we can achieve the best match and continuity.

Colours:
Our main core colours are Oatmeal, Limestone and Off White.

We are often asked what leanings the colours have.

Oatmeal is a tonal colour - think barley, wheat, natural linens.

Limestone has a warm grey tone with a very tiny hint of green. Very on trend right now...think  stone, Farrow &B Balls Bone and Shaded white.

Off White is definitely not a brilliant white! It is a softer white, warm in colour, not cream and not ivory but a great allrounder.

We currently don’t offer samples but we will be in the future. If you are planning a large project, please do get in touch and we will try to assist.

We have now also standardised our sizes too to make selections easier.
We think that our shades have the perfect proportions. Not crazy, conservative but just right!

Our tapered dimensions are

Tapered shades are by far the most popular choice and certainly classic in their style. Very few bases will not suit a tapered side so it is certainly the safest bet if you are unsure.

Our coolie dimensions are

Coolie shades are for the more adventurous of us and they create such an impact statement. They also need to be much bigger than the size you would normally opt for in a taper (for the same sized base) to look in proportion so they do give great impact. (If you have the space!)

Our cylinder dimensions are

Cylinder shades have a more contemporary feel. There are some lamp bases that call out for this type of shade. Cylinders, as a general rule, will be a size down from the tapered size for the same base, so if you are tight on space or it has to go against a wall, consider a cylinder.

All our shades are made to fit a E27 lamp bulb holder but if you have a smaller B22 style, you will need to use a lamp ring reducer to get them to the perfect fit for your base. So... the good news is that our shades are for all lamps!

E27 is the larger screw in type bulb and the smaller type is generally available.

We have selected a thicker profile wire which makes them ultimately super strong and a great quality liner that ensures rigidity.
